Big Win Alert: Ward Melville Topples Northport

Here it is, boys and girls the game you all have been waiting for. And by "you all," I mean "me." What happens when an immovable object (that ole Ward Melville 'D') meets an unstoppable force (Northport's explosive offense, led by Cortney Fortunato)?

The short answer, at least this week, is "a whole lotta awesomeness." The longer story is an impeccably played game that was decided in the final minutes. This one goes to Ward Melville, 11-9.

Yuna Hur scored two of her three goals in the second half, including one with 6:14 left to give the Patriots the lead over the state champs in Division I. Hur's third goal came with five seconds left to play. Ally Tilley had three goals and an assist and Kelsey Catalano had three goals in the win. Emma Jehle made all eight of her saves in the second half for Ward Melville.

With the win, the Patriots establish dominance in Division I...for now. Stay tuned....
