Class C: Cold Spring Harbor vs. North Shore, 4 p.m.

Catherine McTiernan scored a season-high six goals to lead Garden City in a 17-5 win over Long Beach on Wednesday in a Nassau Class B semifinal at Adelphi.

Manhasset defeated Wantagh, 11-7, in the Nassau Class B semifinals on Wednesday. This, of course, sets up a showdown for the county crown with Garden City. The Indians/Trojans boys lacrosse teams are also squaring off in their final and, for the girls, ‘tis a little rivalry revival from field hockey. (Yeah, I dropped another field hockey reference on the girls lacrosse blog. Deal with it.)

Sacred Heart coach Morgan Molinari after her team beat Shoreham-Wading River, 18-6, in the first contest of the three-game tournament.
On the win: “It was a big win for the girls. They played really hard and it was an up-and-down game. We thought the teams were evenly-matched, so we're glad we came out on top. It's a big win for the Catholic League.”

For the second straight year, the Long Island teams were the kings — er, queens — of the New York state tournament.
Farmingdale repeated as the Class A champion, Garden City won its fifth straight Class B title (and 11th overall), and Shoreham-Wading River earned its fourth consecutive Class C crown.

After six exciting county finals and three tightly-played Long Island Championship games, only three teams — Farmingdale (Class A), Garden City (Class B) and Shoreham-Wading River (Class C) — remain. They'll make the trip up to SUNY Cortland on Thursday in preparation for Friday's state semifinals and Saturday's final.
