It certainly wasn’t easy narrowing down the talent in Suffolk to eleven players. But below are my pre-season starting 11 for Suffolk girls soccer, comprising what I like to call the Suffolk Girls Soccer Dream Team. The selections incorporate all four classes in the county and are based on position and the opinion of one man.

The Nassau Dream Team will be released later this week. If only we can arrange a game between the two teams after the state tournament.

Without further ado, I give you the starting 11 for the Suffolk Dream Team:

Kristi Abbate, Northport – Former Suffolk Player of the Year is a perennial all-state candidate who is one of the best distributors on Long Island.

Stephanie Peragallo, Hauppauge – Controls everything for the Eagles, has been team’s leading scorer out of the midfield numerous years and makes everyone around her better.

Kari Quinn, Shoreham Wading River (pictured)– Will show off her footwork at Syracuse next fall. Until then she will control the flow of the offense for Shoreham Wading River.

Cari Roccaro, East Islip – All-American. Suffolk Class AA Player of the Year. U-17 National Team member. MSG Varsity the Magazine cover girl. Must I keep going?

Honorable Mention: Jenai Davidson of Deer Park, Liz Rullen of Ward Melville

Emily Ude, North Babylon – Another player that needs no introduction or explanation. Her breakout season last year earned a spot on first-team all-state and showed that she can beat you in a variety of ways.

Chelsea Bellini, Smithtown Christian – Even with 35 goals and 20 assists last season, critics might say her school is too small and competition too weak. But I’ve watched her play in person during the state tournament the past two seasons and witnessed her beat far too many defenders with ease. I’ll take her on my team.

Honorable Mention: Rosy Hayes of Northport, Kim Marra of Sayville

Rebecca Raber, Bayport-Blue Point – She is moving to the midfield this season but after seeing her shutdown the backfield for Bayport last season (and because it’s a blog and we can do what we want), we’ll keep her in the back. Bound for Binghampton, Raber’s coach calls her one of the toughest players you will see on a soccer field.

Brittany Mueller, Kings Park – One of the better up-and-coming defenders in the county made fourth-team all-state as a sophomore. She will only get better in her junior season.

Samantha Bishop, Sayville – More than held her own against some tough assignments - including Islip’s Katie Hyland and Garden City’s Barbara Sullivan - during Sayville’s playoff run last season.

Alexis Parlato, Center Moriches – A versatile player that could be penciled in at any position on the field but proves most valuable in the backfield.

Honorable Mention: JoJo Murino of Connetquot, Amanda Buck of Islip

Ally Ramos, Ward Melville and Kim Comstock, Comsewogue -- With the graduation of Sachem East’s Alyssa Gutierrez and West Islip’s Samantha Whitney, the label of top keeper in the county is up for grabs. With no clear cut favorite, I’m copping out and rotating two keepers.  Ramos takes the first half, Comstock takes the second half and vice versa in the next game.

Honorable Mention: Erin McNulty of Sachem North, Kelly Heimerle of North Babylon, Olivia Coley-Bishop of Sayville

Check back in November to see who makes the cut for the post-season Dream Team….
