Preston Tansill's goal gives Locust Valley upset win

Preston Tansill scored the winner off a pass from Emily Schlicht with 5:05 left in overtime as No. 6 Locust Valley upset third-seeded North Shore, 3-2, Friday in the Nassau Class B field hockey quarterfinals.

Lindsay Bleistein had tied it at 2 for the Falcons with 4:48 left in regulation. Locust Valley (5-8-1) advances to the semifinals for the first time in nine seasons. It'll face No. 2 Manhasset at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Cold Spring Harbor 4, Clarke 0: Jillian Lee scored twice and Katie Kotowski and Emily Tyree each added a goal and an assist to lead No. 4 Cold Spring Harbor (9-5) over No. 5 Clarke in the Nassau Class B quarterfinals. East Islip 4, Ross 3:Marissa Corrado and Shelby Klyne defeated Kendall Scala and Alyana Jaffe, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, in the clinching second doubles match to lead No. 4 East Islip (12-2) over No. 5 Ross in the Suffolk quarterfinals. East Islip will visit top-seeded Half Hollow Hills East in the semifinals Saturday.

Half Hollow Hills East 7, Mercy 0:Amanda Luper and Emily Spevack defeated Cassidy Lessard and Shannon Merker, 6-2, 6-4, in first doubles to lead Hills East (15-0) over No. 8 Mercy in the Suffolk quarterfinals.

Floyd 6, Smithtown East 1:Christina Cali defeated Caitlyn Biagotti, 6-4, 6-0, in second singles to lead No. 3 Floyd (17-1) over No. 6 Smithtown East in the Suffolk quarterfinals. Floyd will face No. 2 Half Hollow Hills West Saturday.

Shoreham-Wading River 3, Hauppauge 2: Sean Dowd had 18 kills to lead Shoreham-Wading River (1-10) in a 25-22, 23-25, 19-25, 25-20, 27-25 non-league victory. Mike Julian added seven kills, and Joe Caligiuri and Greg Schotte combined for 43 assists for the Wildcats.
