Lynbrook golfers looking to stay unbeaten

Lynbrook's golfers are shooting for their third straight undefeated season this year, and they have won four conference championships in the past seven years.

Senior Dean Sisun is a fourth-year starter and will be the team's top player. Other returning starters are seniors Michael Pearsall and Leo Mackey and juniors Brett Epstein and Anthony Rodriguez.

Junior Willis Huynh returns to lead Syosset after tying for fifth in the state championship. Junior Matt Csillag and seniors James Schlessinger and Ross Gaber give the Braves a strong veteran lineup.

Three-year varsity golfer Mike Kreisman will lead a young Hewlett team. Senior Jason Brodsky is in his second year on the team and could the be key to the Bulldogs' success. Seventh-grader Nick Imas has the potential to have a good year.

Manhasset will look to improve on last year's 3-7 record with its top five golfers all returning. Junior Joe Blando will be the team's top golfer after barely missing the state cut last year. Four-year varsity golfer Alex Chee is the team's only senior. Sophomores Griffin Hyde, Andrew McMeekin and Peter Schlesier all have improved during the offseason and will give the Indians some depth.

Senior Brandon Carter is the only returning starter for Jericho and will jump from the sixth position to the No. 1 spot on the team. Cameron Ghazzini brings experience to the team after playing as a freshman last year.

Wheatley returns a strong core led by sophomore Michael Braunstein, who is the team's No. 1 and has been on the team since the eighth grade. Junior Ben Goldbaum and senior Graham Turk add experience and eighth-grader Teddy Lewis has the potential for a breakout year.

Seniors Johnson Ko and Ross Hoffman qualified for the state championship last year and will bring that extra experience to Great Neck South as the top two golfers. Junior Hunter Lee and senior Harrison Stroews will be key to the team's performance from the three and four spots.

Senior Matt Hyne, a four-year varsity player, returns to lead Kings Park, which will look to return to prominence after winning the county championship in 2010.

Seniors Eric Lemon and Jeremy Schwartz return to lead Harborfields. Both have been on the team for four years and are very consistent. First-year coach Brian Dolan said sophomore Nate Flanzbaum will play in one of the top three spots.

Seniors Nick Roden, Dan DiMaggio and Ciaran Quinn will lead a young Sachem North team. Coach Anthony Falco said the three are interchangeable at the top three spots.

Middle Country junior Mike Miranda will look to defend his county championship. Seniors Nick Natale, Dom Pisciatelli and Rich Kelly add depth and experience to the team, along with up-and-coming eighth-grader Ryan Bergholm.

St. Anthony's won the regular-season title after going 11-1 and won the league tournament championship. The Friars return a good core from last year's group, led by sophomore Kyle Cunningham, who was an all-league player and will be the team's top golfer. Seniors Robert Jensen and Matt Windmiller bring experience.

Chaminade will have a veteran lineup led by junior Ken Doyle, who will start the year as the team's No. 1. Seniors Maxx Hotton and Harrison Lombardo and juniors Matt DiConza and Chris Van Praag will look to help Chaminade return to the top of the league.

Senior Mark Reilly returns to lead St. John the Baptist after winning the CHSAA individual championship, finishing second in the state championship and taking fourth in the state federation tournament. Seniors Randy Burnett and Chris Tucciarone round out the team's top three.

Junior Chris Lambrou returns for Holy Trinity after being named co-MVP of the CHSAA. Lambrou finished fifth in the state championship and ninth in the federation tournament. Seniors Colin Warren, John Donohue and James Miller will be top golfers for the Titans.
