Smithtown West junior Kaitlin Clancy shot 5-over-par 77 and was tied for seventh after the first round of the Girls Golf State Championship at SUNY Delhi Saturday.

Syosset sophomore Elizabeth Choi and Garden City Maroon freshman Alana McAndrews both shot 79 and are tied for 13th. Section V's Christine Schmitt holds the lead with an even-par 72.

Other notable Long Island scorers were Garden City Maroon's Samantha Sessa (80), Smithtown West's Victoria Snak (81) and Ward Melville's Danielle Greene (82). In the team competition, Section VIII (Nassau) is in third with 576 and Section XI (Suffolk) is in fourth with 588. Section V is in first with 553. The final round begins Sunday at 9 a.m.
