Syosset, Northport set county records at Nationals

Two county records fell this weekend at the New Balance National Championships, held at North Carolina A & T University in Greensboro, N.C.
Syosset’s distance medley relay team, comprised of Michael Wilkens, Simon Nwana, Nick Ouassil, and Ryan DePinto, finished in 10:13.49, good for sixth place. The mark broke Wantagh’s record of 10:18.2, set in 1973, according to Syosset coach Bart Sessa.

Watch out for Brentwood’s Alexia Douglas.
The sophomore sprinter made waves with her performance at the state championships, held in Middletown on June 8. A 12.12 second finish in the 100 meters earned her the Division I state title.
