Long Island runners shined at the Manhattan Invitational last weekend at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. With multiple varsity races held throughout the event, there were a host of winners and top performers from Nassau, Suffolk and the CHSAA.

The Brentwood High School athletic department and the Brentwood Athletic Booster Club will hold Casey Ellin Day on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Ray Perez Soccer Field when the Brentwood boys soccer team hosts Sachem East.

Frankie Conklin, North Shore: The goalie was stellar, even in a 2-0 loss to Garden City. Conklin made 24 saves to keep the Vikings in the game against a Trojans offense that entered having outscored its last seven opponents 42-0. Conklin has made 42 saves with a .901 save percentage in North Shore’s last three games.

Hauppauge’s annual Kicks for Cancer fundraiser event, held in honor of Courtney Tomkin, will kick off tomorrow afternoon at Hauppauge High School.
“Our goal is to continue to bring awareness to the kids,” Hauppauge boys soccer coach Jamie Edson said.
“The soccer game is secondary to raising money for a good cause.”
