Game 1 of hoops challenge to Harborfields

Entering Tuesday night's busy boys basketball slate, there were three undefeated teams on Long Island. But all three were beaten as once again, parity ruled the courts.

In Suffolk II, Central Islip outlasted Half Hollow Hills East, 68-64, dropping the Colts to 10-1.

In Nassau AA-I, Freeport slipped past Farmingdale, 49-44, as the Dalers fell to 9-1.

Hausmann's three-point play gives Dalers their first league win

Farmingdale needed a big play and Amanda Hausmann delivered one in the clutch.

Hausmann’s three-point play with 22 seconds left was the big basket in the Dalers’ 38-35 home win over Hempstead in a Nassau Conference AA-I girls basketball game.

Hausmann had good positioning in the low post when she took the feed from Lauren Hill, before converting the tough layup as she was being fouled.

Nassau boys soccer postseason opening matchups

Four outbracket games kicked off the 2013 Nassau boys' soccer postseason Thursday, featuring Class A wins by Sewanhaka, Lynbrook, Floral Park and Clarke.

All opening round Class A games take place on Oct. 25, as top-seeded Wantagh hosts No. 16 Clarke at 2:30 p.m.

Bethpage, the fifth seed, will host No. 12 Island Trees at 3:30 p.m. Sewanhaka, at No. 13, heads to No. 4 Southside at 7 p.m....
