High school playoff schedules announced in Nassau and Suffolk

High school athletic officials now have a clearer picture of the upcoming postseason schedule after days of uncertainty following superstorm Sandy.

All Nassau football quarterfinals have been scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m., according to the Section IX website.

Suffolk's playoffs will Friday and Saturday.

The schedule for Catholic league football games will be decided Tuesday, according to St. Anthony's athletic director Don Buckley, president of the NSCHSAA. Buckley said that no games will be before Saturday. The boys soccer semifinals will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Mitchel Athletic Complex. Schedules for all other CHSAA sports are pending.

"We'll have more information [today]," he said. "We'll have nothing before Saturday because most of the schools are closed and practices have been put on hold."

Suffolk boys soccer playoffs will begin Wednesday, weather permitting, according to the Suffolk website, sectionxi.org.

Nassau boys soccer playoffs begin Thursday.

Suffolk girls soccer will resume Wednesday and Class AA and A in Nassau picks up Thursday. Class B is still to be determined.

Nassau boys and girls volleyball kick off Thursday and Friday, depending on the class, and the playoffs carry on through the weekend. Suffolk boys and girls start Wednesday.

Nassau field hockey resumes Thursday with all three finals Sunday. Suffolk playoffs begin Wednesday.
