Not even time could slow down Chris Wallace this season.
The St. Anthony’s forward beat the clock in the state CHSAA championship game, scoring the winning goal with one second left that gave the Friars their first state title.
Wallace led St. Anthony’s to a 21-0 record with a team-high 30 goals. He was second on the team with 45 points and was at his best in the postseason.
The winner in the state championship game completed a hat trick that night, and his seven goals in a two-game sweep of St. Joseph Sea in the CHSHL championship made up 63-percent of the team’s offense in the series. “I’ve been with this program since 1984 and I think played better this season than anyone that I’ve seen before,” coach Jeff Stelmok said. Wallace plays for the New York Bobcats Junior-A hockey team, a top junior team on Long Island, and hopes to move on to a higher profile junior league next season before trying to play college hockey.
“It’s been incredible,” Wallace said of his time at St. Anthony’s. “It’s been a pleasure to play for all the coaches and it’s been a lot of fun.”

He led a Friars’ defense playing in front of alternating goaltenders that allowed just 22 goals in 16 regular season games, the best mark in the CHSHL.
