All of Nassau and most of Suffolk sports were postponed Thursday due to Wednesday's Nor'easter and the aftermath of superstorm Sandy.

A smattering of boys and girls volleyball and boys and girls soccer games were played in Suffolk Thursday with all other events postponed until Friday.

Most of Nassau's events scheduled for Thursday were postponed until Friday, with the exception of two field hockey games, one girls soccer match and one girls volleyball contest that will be played Saturday.

"The decision was made that, when possible, to continue with the tournaments [Thursday]," said Ed Cinelli, executive director of Suffolk County sports. "When that wasn't possible, we revised the brackets and moved games accordingly. We want to complete all of the playoffs and championships for all student-athletes because it means so much to them."

The CHSFL postponed its first-round games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in all three divisions. The playoffs will resume next weekend, with dates and times to be announced. The brackets and matchups remain unchanged.
