Rye Playland to honor vets on holiday

Rye Playland is honoring veterans this Memorial Day with special events during Memorial Day weekend.

Veteran and Service Member appreciation day will be held Sunday at the park, located at 1 Playland Parkway in Rye.

Sunday will feature festivities throughout the entire day, starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Music Tower Theater stage. A ceremony and a special Marine helicopter raid demonstration also will be featured.

On Saturday, three performances by Six Stories Told will take place at the Music Tower Theater at 3, 5 and 7 p.m. and Erik's Reptile Edventures will also be featured at the Theater 4:15-6:15 p.m.

To end the weekend, students from the Lagond Music School will perform songs at the Music Tower Theater as well.

Also available during the weekend will be crafts and activities around the fountain and boardwalk Saturday and Sunday. Play it DJ will be available at Kiddyland at 1, 3, 5 and 6 p.m. all weekend. Kiddyland also will feature Erik's Reptile Edventures at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Mad About Science at 2 and 4 p.m.
