Shoreham-Wading River beats Pierson in overtime

Tim Rotanz scored nine points in overtime, including a jumper and a free throw in the final 50 seconds, to lead Shoreham-Wading River to a 50-46 win over Pierson Wednesday in non-league boys basketball.

Rotanz's jump shot with 50 seconds to go in overtime gave SWR the lead for good at 47-46. Kevin Turano (20 points) made two free throws late in OT to make it 49-46. Rotanz made a free throw with nine seconds left to extend the Wildcats' lead to 50-46.

Pierson's Ian Barrett hit a game-tying three-pointer with 20 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. Northport 59, Sayville 44: Luke Petrasek scored 19 points to lead Northport in non-league. Dan Lowenkron chipped in 12 points off the bench in the win.Bethpage 66, Mineola 55: Greg Gerber led Bethpage with 31 points and 12 rebounds. Mohid Farhadi added 15 points and six assists in the non-league win. Herricks 56, Westbury 42: Andrew Fellus had 32 points to lead Herricks in the New Hyde Park Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament. Ryan Gaitan added eight points and eight rebounds for Herricks, which will play East Meadow in the tournament final Friday at 7 p.m.Syosset 56, Plainview JFK 46: Nick Albernas scored 20 points to lead Syosset in the Wantagh Tournament. Long Island Lutheran 69, Southampton 46: Boogie Brozoski scored 13 of her 30 points during a 20-8 third quarter for Long Island Lutheran in non-league. Brozoski was 6-for-8 from three-point range. Taylor Byrne added eight points in the win. Freeport 45, Hicksville 24: Taylor Miller had 12 points, six steals and four rebounds to lead Freeport in non-league. Sarah Edmonds added nine points and four steals, and Sydney Harris had seven rebounds for Freeport.Herricks 45, Hewlett 31: Alison Ricchiuti scored 17 of her game-high 21 points in first half and Barbara Nictas added 10 points to lead Herricks in the first round of the Herricks Tournament. New Hyde Park 47, Valley Stream South 38: Sophomore Brianna Patrizi had 12 points and sophomore Jillian Sakowich added 10 points for New Hyde Park in the consolation game of the South Side Tournament. Patrizi was named to the all-tournament team.

Lindenhurst 67, Mattituck 46: Val Oyakhilome had 30 points and 14 rebounds to lead Lindenhurst in the final of the Lindenhurst Tournament. Nicole Intrieri added nine points, seven assists and five steals. Oyakhilome was named tournament MVP, and Intrieri and Randi Zorn (12 points) were selected to the all-tournament team.

Our Lady of Mercy 66, Amityville 43: Samantha Lynch had 22 points and eight rebounds and Marylin Lehmuller chipped in nine points, 11 rebounds and five assists for OLMA in the consolation game of the Lindenhurst Tournament. Rebecca Stouges added 13 points in the win. Mineola 60, East Meadow 55: Sophomore Samantha Venus scored a career-high 26 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Mineola in non-league. Addie McKeever added 14 points and six rebounds.
