Locust Valley softball had a tough go in the regular season as a part of Nassau Conference II. Its fortunes have changed as the playoffs rolled round and the Falcons are back to facing fellow Class B opponents.

The Locust Valley bats broke out in a big way Monday in Game 1 of the "B" championship, defeating East Rockaway, 15-11, led by Lauren Sabatino's 4-for-5 day.

"Sabatino drives in runs," Locust Valley coach Nadine Pacifico said. "When people get on base she does that. It was huge to help her self out at the plate."

Sabatino also pitched her second consecutive complete game, staying focused as East Rockaway hit her a little harder than usual.

"No matter how many hits she gives up she keeps her composure," Pacifico said. "She knows that every batter is a new batter and every inning is a new inning."

Now Locust Valley is only a win away from the County championship.
