Sarah Cornell's no-hitter lifts Clarke over Glen Cove

Sarah Cornell pitched a no-hitter with one unearned run, three walks and seven strikeouts to lead Clarke (2-7) to a 7-1 win over Glen Cove in Nassau Conference A-I. It's the freshman's first no-hitter of the season and third of her three-year varsity career, according to coach Chrissy DeMott.

"Sarah was able to throw a lot of movement and keep the hitters off balance with her off-speed pitches and her defense really helped her out," DeMott said. Amanda Gargiulo and Lexi Zaino both went 2-for-4 with an RBI.East Rockaway 10, West Hempstead 3:Caitlin O'Mara led off the top of the seventh inning with a solo home run to tie the score at 3 and later hit a go-ahead, two-run single to ignite a seven-run eighth inning for East Rockaway (9-0) in Conference A-IV. O'Mara went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Gianna Cilluffo allowed four hits with nine strikeouts, and escaped a bases loaded, no-out jam in the bottom of the seventh. She also went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Elmont 18, Westbury 17: Jammy Ayala's three-run double gave Elmont an 18-14 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning in A-III. Joan Janvier went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs for the Spartans (2-5).

Bethpage 8, Seaford 3: Cathleen Cassese went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs, an RBI and two stolen bases for Bethpage (4-4) in Conference A-I. Kayla Fehrenbach went 2-for-4, both doubles, with two runs and two stolen bases and Monica Oury went 2-for-4 with a two-RBI double in the fourth, and finished with three RBIs. Bethpage scored four runs in the fourth to make it 6-0.

Mineola 3, South Side 2: Christina Palmenteri went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, including the go-ahead triple in the fifth inning for Mineola (6-3) in Conference ABC-II. Addie McKeever went 2-for-3 and Emily Skupp went 2-for-3 and struck out seven over seven innings.

Cold Spring Harbor 12, Sewanhaka 8: Tori Campbell went 4-for-5 with five RBIs and four runs for Cold Spring Harbor (8-1) in ABC-IV. Kristen Ambrosino went 2-for-3 with three runs.

St. John the Baptist 8, St. Anthony's 7: Cara Bevilacqua hit a single to score Sarah O'Neill in the bottom of the ninth to give St. John the Baptist (6-2) the win in CHSAA. Down 5-2 in the fifth, Bevilacqua hit a bases-clearing triple and then scored on a throwing error to take a one-run lead. Bevilacqua went 2-for-5 with four RBIs on the day.

Hampton Bays 8, Pierson/Bridgehampton 7: Mackenzie Tyler hit a two-out, walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh as Hampton Bays (6-3) erased a 7-4 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning in League VII.

Miller Place 5, Bellport 4: Dominique Soto scored on an infield error off the bat of Tori Carlo with one out in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Miller Place (9-1) in League V/VI crossover. Sage Biamonte led off the inning with a single and came around to score the tying run on a Soto single. Biamonte finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

Deer Park 7, West Islip 4: Ari Tedeschi went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, including a solo home run in the fifth for Deer Park (7-3) in League IV. Alex Santora went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Centereach 4, Half Hollow Hills West 3: Amanda Catapano scored on an error on a fly ball hit off the bat of Tia LaPluma with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to win it for Centereach (5-6) in a Suffolk League III/IV crossover. LaPuma had a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score at 3.
