Our perfect game spotlight for this week shines on Catherine Havens (hat tip to Corey McLaughlin for the write-up and info):

Junior righthander Catherine Havens threw a perfect game with 14 strikeouts for her second no-hitter in a week as Eastport-South Manor (5-2) beat Sayville, 6-0, in League V. She had a five-inning no-hitter last Thursday against Comsewogue with 11 strikeouts. She was one error away from a perfect game in that one, and got it Wednesday.

"She was in total command. She put the ball wherever she wanted," ESM coach Steve Giacolone said. "She was incredible. I remember the umpire saying, 'three balls, two strikes,' one time and that was it."

It was Havens' first career perfect game. The no-hitter earlier this season was her first no-hitter. She also threw a three-hitter with 13 strikeotus and gave up one unearned run against Islip on Monday. Melanie Boccio and Havens each had two hits for ESM. Havens scored the game's first run in the first inning.
