Nicole Fischetti's win helps St. Mary's to B team title

Nicole Fischetti overcame a one-game deficit to upend Meghan Hardimann, 1-6, 6-3, 13-11, at third singles to lift the St. Mary's B team to a 5-2 win over Our Lady of Mercy in the CHSAA B girls tennis final yesterday. Kayla Nunez-Castro defeated Delle Derotale, 6-0, 7-5, in first singles.

Our Lady of Mercy 5, St. Anthony's 2:Courtney Lynch and Sara Merkle defeated Caitlyn Labiak and Gabby Galli, 6-0, 4-6, 10-8, in fourth doubles and Cate Soccodato defeated Carla Lanardo, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5, in second singles to clinch the Class A CHSAA championship for the Our Lady Mercy A team.Rashidzada wins. Top-seeded Zenat Rashidzada (Half Hollow Hills West) defeated No. 2 Vanessa Scott of Hills East, 6-1, 6-0, to win the Suffolk Division I singles championship. Hills East's No. 1 duo of Amanda Luper and Allison Huber defeated second-seeded Sarah Han and Dani Silber (Hills West), 6-4, 6-4, for the Division I doubles championship.


Baldwin 3, Mepham 1: D.J. Hunter scored in the 66th minute to give Baldwin (5-5) a 2-1 lead in Nassau Conference AA-I. Isaiah Welsh scored in the 59th minute to tie the score at 1 for the Bruins, who clinched a playoff berth.

Brentwood 1, Sachem North 0: Mario Ruiz scored off a feed from Carlos Menjivar in the 59th minute as Brentwood (13-0, 11-0) clinched at least a share of the League I title. It's Brentwood's first shared or outright League title since 2008.Smithtown West 2, Riverhead 1: Justin Kipperman scored off a feed from Alex Ferreira with seven minutes left in the second overtime to win it for Smithtown West (6-3-2) in League III.
