The fate of Thursday's heavy schedule of high school playoff games will be decided this morning when Nassau and Suffolk officials evaluate conditions at schools and playing fields following Wednesday's nor'easter that brought rain, snow and heavy wind to Long Island.

"We will assess the situation in the morning and decide whether any playoff games will be played," Nassau sports executive director Nina Van Erk said.

All events that were originally scheduled for Wednesday in both counties had been postponed earlier in the week because of the impending storm. "We're hoping the weather changes in our favor so we can continue the playoffs," Suffolk sports executive director Ed Cinelli said. "Everything is still day-to-day."

Weather permitting, public school playoff games are scheduled Thursday in both counties for boys and girls soccer, field hockey and boys and girls volleyball. No CHSAA events are scheduled on Long Island until Saturday.
