  • "no disrespect to Smith .... but Jill Byers was and still is the only female athlete to be Newsday's "All-Long Island" in all three sports that she played - All Long Island Lacrosse, Soccer and Basketball. "

  • "No disrespect to the athlelte but girls softball? A hammer thrower? Tobais Harris over Jason Frasier? Frasier would eat him up in high school. Bigger, taller and stronger. Barry Baker should also be on the list. Was also a great basketball plaer. No Danny Green? AJ price in my opinion had a better college career. This ranking looks like its only concerning high school. • "Gwaltney was the best but, unfortunately, did nothing for himself afterwards. I want to know how Shannon Smith (woman's lacrosse) wasn't mentioned. She broke Jill Byers record when she was only in 10th grade. She set scoring records of her own, and is a three time all-american. She started (as a freshman) at Northwestern last year. Just don't get it. "

  • "JASON GWALTNEY, number 1... more dominate than Jansen who's only three losses came in Jr. High. Unbeaten 9 - 12, 4 time state champ, that in an individual sport. "

  • "don't be Jealous, he is still playing and may be heard of again. If not, this High School and he was the best ever. Maybe we should choose another NB player, we had so many. This was the best High School player ever, not NCAA or NFL. "
