Undefeated Chaminade boys lacrosse stays atop Spring Big 10

1. CHAMINADE BOYS LACROSSE

The Flyers improved to 7-0 and showed great depth in wins over CHSAA opponents, Holy Trinity and St. John the Baptist, with many bench players finding their names on the stat sheets. Ryan Lukacovic continues to play at a high level, scoring 10 points.

2. ST. ANTHONY'S GIRLS LACROSSE

The Friars won their three games last week, including a 19-9 victory over 40th-ranked Notre Dame (Mass.). Maggie Bill scored three goals and Charlotte Campbell made 11 saves in a 9-6 win over Chatham (N.J.). St. Anthony's is ranked No. 4 in the country.

3. GARDEN CITY GIRLS LACROSSE

Jackie Jahelka scored six goals, leading the Trojans to a 15-12 win over Port Washington in its only game last week. Garden City (7-0) is ranked sixth in the country.

4. WARD MELVILLE BOYS LACROSSE

The Patriots' offense has been the story in 2013, but when they defeated Garden City, the defense excelled led by goalie Daniel Nemirov's eight saves. Ward Melville also dominated tough Smithtown West, 13-4, earlier in the week.

5. COMMACK SOFTBALL

The Cougars jump to the top of the softball rankings after making a statement with an impressive 2-1 win over Bay Shore. Ashley Steponatis hit an RBI triple and Kiersten Carlomagno allowed just four hits and one walk with six strikeouts in the win.

6. BAY SHORE GIRLS LACROSSE

The Marauders became the only undefeated team in Division I this week, easily turning aside a strong Northport team, 16-6, behind five goals from Kyra Harney. Bay Shore also had an impressive 11-7 win over Wantagh.

7. KELLENBERG GIRLS TRACK

Jazmine Fray won the 800 at the New York Relays in two minutes, 14.07 seconds. Natalie Jean's 118 foot discus throw at the Nanuet Relays is currently the top distance on LI.

8. HALF HOLLOW HILLS GIRLS BADMINTON

The Thundercolts continued their winning ways this week, defeating Miller Place 8-1, Smithtown East 8-1 and Smithtown West 7-2. Leyna Rosen in first singles and Christie LoMonaco in second singles continue to win. Hills has won 53 straight matches dating back to 2010.

9. SMITHTOWN EAST GIRLS GOLF

The Bulls remained undefeated with three wins this week, defeating Bay Shore 8-1, Northport 9-0, and Commack 8.5-0.5. Freshman Peyton Greco led the way, shooting a 5-over 41 at Gull Haven Golf Course and a 4-over 40 at Smithtown Landing.

10. COLD SPRING HARBOR BOYS TENNIS

Amanda Crimarco and Sabrina DeAngelis. The five-time defending Long Island Champions have been perfect thus far, as Conor Dauer and J.P. Paris have led the way at first singles. Last week the Seahawks handled North Shore, 6-1, and edged out Syosset, 4-3.
