Chris DeLucie had 37 assists, five kills, four blocks and five service aces in Lindenhurst's 3-1 Division I / Southeast Regional finals win Tuesday over Massapequa.

Michael Comens had two service aces, 20 kills and nine digs as Lindenhurst won, 25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-17. Robert Sarneckis totaled 15 kills and six digs and Ryan McDonough had seven kills for Lindenhurst (16-2), which lost in three games to Massapequa last year.

At the end of the fourth game, DeLucie had three of his service aces and "annihilated the ball," according to assistant coach Angelo Cioffaletti. "The guys did everything right from covering their hitters well to passing the ball to the setters," Cioffaletti said. "It was unreal. Truly a team win."

Cioffaletti also commented on Lindenhurst's strong play in Games 3 and 4.

"DeLucie and Sarneckis picked them apart on the outside and applied pressure all game long."

In last year's meeting with Massapequa, Sarneckis had six kills.

Lindenhurst advances to the state championship at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Glens Falls Civic Center.
