Last season, Andy Rodriguez of Central Islip and Nick Terdick of Glenn couldn't avoid each other, as they battled in the county and state finals, with Rodriguez winning both times.

This year, they're not worrying about each other — they're just trying to avoid being upset by an array of challengers.

A-Rod is the No. 1 seed at 145 pounds, while Terdick is the top man at 152. In the quarterfinals, Rodriguez escaped with a 5-4 win over Glenn's Kevin Massa using a late takedown. He'll take on Sayville's Josef Haas in the semifinals.

Terdick was tied at 5 with Floyd's Jon Goulding late in the second period, when he earned a takedown to make it 7-5 heading into the third. An escape made it 8-5, which is how it would finish. Terdick will face Deer Park's Rich Lugo in the semifinals.
