Live from Day 2 at the NYSPHSAA wrestling championships

Good morning from Albany everyone!

Of the 87 Long Island wrestlers who came upstate this weekend, 27 in contention for the title, none of the Division II level.

Not included in that group is defending state champ Mike Soria of Kings Park, who was upset by Wantagh's Joe Barbato yesterday. That eliminated the possiblity of meeting his twin brother Max in the final. To read more about him, click here.

After Day 1 of action, St. Anthony's led in team scores behind semifinalists Chris Brienza (103), Grant Greene (119) and Brandon Meisner (160). Jimmy Morris, a defending All State wrestler, failed to make weight yesterday and didn't wrestle this weekend. To read more about the Friars, click here.
