Westhampton's Pete DeTore, Brentwood's Alex Gomez and Huntington's Damon McQueen — all Section XI wrestlers — advanced to the 119-pound quarterfinals. Three wrestlers is the maximum a section can have in a single weight class.

McQueen, the Suffolk champ and the No. 2 seed, earned a 6-2 win over Richard Dennison on Minisink Valley. Gomez defeated Nassau champ Luke Alber of Farmingdale, 13-6, and after the match, Alber was docked a team point for unsportsmanlike conduct for flinging his headgear.

McQueen (pictured, left) and Gomez will meet in the quarterfinals in a rematch of the Suffolk final, which McQueen won 13-3.

Also, Westhampton's Pete DeTore defeated Robby Zyko of Curtis to advance to the quarterfinals. He'll face top seed Grant Greene of St. Anthony's in the quarters.

Thus far, eight of the nine Suffolk wrestlers in the first four weight classes have advanced to the quarterfinals.
