The funeral for legendary high school basketball and baseball coach Jack Curran is taking place Wednesday in his hometown of Rye.

Curran coached both sports at Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens for 55 years.

His teams won five city championships in basketball and 17 in baseball.

No other New York City coach has ever won a title in both sports in the same year. Curran did it four times -- 1969, 1973, 1974 and 1987. His record as a coach was 972-437 in basketball and 1,708-523 in baseball.

A wake will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening at Graham Funeral Home in Rye.

The funeral Mass began at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, also in Rye.

He died last Thursday.
