Sorry about the lack of posts the last hour, the internet crapped out for a few minutes there. So let's get you guys caught up on the action before the quarterfinals begin...

At 189 pounds, Smithtown West's Jake Smith, Glenn's Joe Giaramita and Sachem East's Chris Di Iorio all advanced, and all three are on the top half of the bracket.

Di Iorio, the fourth seed, earned a technical fall, while Giaramita knocked off fifth-seeded Marcus Spearman of Newburgh. Di Iorio and Giaramita didn't wrestle at the county tournament, but they'll face each other in the quarterfinal round.

Smith hung on for a 5-4 win over St. Anthony's Paul Alessandrini and will face the top seed from Wantagh, Matt Loew (who pinned his opponent with a cradle in 3:07), in the second round.

Earlier, the No. 2 seed at 160 pounds, MacArthur's Joe Giametta, was upset by Scott Genovesi of John Jay-Cross River, 8-6, on a late double-leg takedown on the line at the buzzer.
