Baseball roundup: Brezinski leads Farmingdale
Chris Brezinski struck out five and walked three in six innings for visiting Farmingdale (6-8) in a 6-2 Conference AA-II win over Plainview JFK on Thursday.
John Galanoudis went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs
Carey 12, Oceanside 7: Brian Hardman hit a three-run double in the first inning to give Carey (10-4) a 5-0 lead in Conference AA-II. Sal Intagliata went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Carey set a school record with four triples, including three in its four-run sixth.
Bellmore JFK 2, Freeport 1: Zach Malis stole home in the bottom of the sixth to give Bellmore JFK (11-4 Conference AA-III) a 2-1 lead. Chris Hope struck out four in a five-hitter.
Baldwin 4, Valley Stream Central 3: Joe Guido hit a two-run single in the top of the fifth inning for Baldwin (10-5) in Conference AA-III. Eddie Murer went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Guido was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs.
Elmont 8, Hempstead 6: Adelbert Clerge's two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning put host Elmont (5-10) ahead, 6-5, in Conference AA-IV. Tyshaun Mack pitched two scoreless innings in relief for the save.
Plainedge 11, Bethpage 2: Brandon Trigo's two-run double sparked a nine-run sixth inning for Plainedge (9-5 in ABC-II). Gary Gurino-Burns struck out seven and walked two in 6 2/3 innings.
Oyster Bay 2, Malverne 1: Marc Douglas scored Matt Capozzo and Alex Hudak with a double in the top of the first to give Oyster Bay (11-7) a 2-0 lead in Conference ABC-III.
Valley Stream North 2, Carle Place 0: Carl McGowan provided the game's only offense with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first for Valley Stream North (12-2 Conference ABC-V). Anthony Graziano struck out 10 and walked two in a four-hitter.
Ward Melville 5, Brentwood 4: Dan Padrazo scored Chris Bozza on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Ward Melville (6-9) in League I. Bozza and Steve Pesapane each had two hits and Pete Gelsomino struck out two in a complete game.
Sachem North 4, Bay Shore 3: Brian Chung, in his first varsity start, struck out one and walked two in five innings for Sachem North (11-4) in League II. Drew Javetski singled home Rob Griffith in the top of the fifth to give Sachem North a 4-1 lead. A.J Keller struck out two in two innings of relief for the save. Griffith went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Half Hollow Hills West 10, Bellport 0: Max Greenough struck out five and walked one in a four-hitter for Hills West (13-2) in League IV. Alex Aurrichio went 4-for-5 with five RBIs. Greenough and Aurrichio hit back-to-back solo homers to start the game and Mike Meglio went 3-for-4.
Islip 8, Eastport 0: Eddie Macaluso pitched a three-hitter, struck out six and walked two for Islip (15-3 in League V). Tom Kriss went 2-for-3 with three RBIs as Islip clinched the league title.
Rocky Point 8, Miller Place 7: Sean Craig hit a two-run double in the bottom of the fifth to give Rocky Point (12-3) an 8-4 lead in League VI. Phil Rado went 3-for-4 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs.
