Basketball roundup: Stony Brook's Spiliotis rules

Danielle Spiliotis scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked seven shots for No.1 Stony Brook (14-3) in a 37-23 win over Port Jefferson Tuesday for its third consecutive Suffolk girls Class C championship. Megan McKenzie scored 13 points for No.2 Port Jefferson (10-6). Stony Brook plays Shelter Island in the Suffolk Class C-D title game at noon Friday at Center Moriches.

Shoreham-Wading River 41, Comsewogue 37: Rachel Wiederkehr's jumper gave No.4 Shoreham-Wading River a 37-34 lead with 1:20 left in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals. Marie Cordaro hit four of five free throws to seal the win for SWR (15-5). Sam Villafranca and Isabelle Mahoney each scored 11 points. SWR visits No.1 Glenn at 7 p.m. on Friday in the semifinals.

Westbury 64, Manhasset 41: Philana Nedd scored 11 of her 18 points in a 22-2 first quarter and added five assists for No.10 Westbury (13-7) in a Nassau Class A quarterfinal. Marlene Ricketts led all scorers with 22 points and Shemique Hooks had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Micheala Regal scored 15 points for No.2 Manhasset (10-10). Westbury plays No.3 Wantagh at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Freeport in the semifinals.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Farmingdale 39, Massapequa 33: Sandeep Dhaliwal had 19 points, seven assists and five rebounds for No.4 Farmingdale (9-7) in the Nassau Class AA quarterfinals. Keenan Ochwat finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. No.5 Massapequa is 5-13. Farmingdale plays No.1 Uniondale at 5 p.m on Friday at SUNY-Old Westbury in the semifinals.

Port Washington 57, Elmont 45: Chris Ryder had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for No.6 Port Washington (11-9) in a Nassau Class AA quarterfinal. No.3 Elmont is 9-9. Port Washington plays No.2 Baldwin at 8 p.m. on Friday at SUNY-Old Westbury.

Copiague 75, Deer Park 74: Marcell Lattimore's putback gave Copiague a 75-74 lead with 18 seconds left in overtime in a Suffolk Class AA first-round game. Lattimore had nine points and 15 rebounds. Nasha Smith hit one of two free throws to tie the score at 69 and force overtime for No.7 Copiague (13-7). Smith had 17 points, seven assists and five rebounds. No.10 Deer Park is 12-8. Copiague visits No.2 Whitman at 6 p.m. on Friday in the quarterfinals.
