Girls lacrosse roundup: Werner saves it for Holy Trinity

Kelly Werner made 20 saves, the final one as time expired, as Holy Trinity edged Kellenberg, 18-17, in CHSAA girls lacrosse Wednesday.

Jackie Williams scored her fifth goal with 3:00 left to give Holy Trinity (5-2-2) an 18-17 lead. Deirdre McQuillan scored her third goal with 6:00 remaining to tie the score at 17 and added four assists. Lauren Ehrhardt scored four goals and added an assists for Kellenberg.

St. Mary's 21, St. Dominic 13: Sophomore Sam Arlotta had a career-high 10 goals and two assists and Juliette Devenoge added four goals and two assists to lead St. Mary's (4-4).

Carle Place 15, Floral Park 12: Senior Noelle Martello had 15 saves, including the 1,000th of her career, for Carle Place (6-1-1) in Conference III. Her younger sister, Taylor, a freshman, led the team with four goals. Meghan Monahan, Monica Wengler and Alice Dawson each had two goals and one assist.

Bethpage 16, Plainview JFK 14: Lauren Sheridan had five goals to lead Bethpage (5-4-1) in Conference IV. Stefany Grigorian added four goals. Francessa Gianuzzi had seven saves. Carolyn Psillos scored five goals for Plainview JFK.

Bayport-Blue Point 13, Hauppauge 11: Laura McLean scored two of her four goals in the second half, including one with 4:33 left to give Bayport-Blue Point (8-2 Division II) a 13-11 lead. Loren Generi had five goals and an assist and McLean added three assists.

Kings Park 15, Harborfields 13: Jamie Romano scored her seventh goal 2:07 into the first overtime to give Kings Park (4-6) a 14-13 lead in Suffolk Division I. Tina Fey made 15 saves for Kings Park. Hannah McLaughlin scored with three seconds left to tie the score at 13 for Harborfields. Rachel Raffa added four goals and an assist for KP.
