A closer look at Newsday's 21nd annual All-Long Island girls basketball team:
FIRST TEAM
LISA KARCIC
Nassau Player of the Year
New Hyde Park (6-2, Senior)
The two-time Nassau Player of the Year was simply dominant. Karcic averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 blocks and 3 steals this season, returning NHP to the state public schools Final Four. Karcic, who will attend Villanova on a full athletic scholarship, is the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,894 points.
KAYLIE SCHIAVETTA
Suffolk Player of the Year
Northport (5-8, Senior)
Schiavetta led Northport to the Class AA Long Island title in dynamic fashion. She averaged 21 points, 9 assists, 5 steals and 4 rebounds, finishing as Northport's all-time leading scorer with 1,357 points. Schiavetta will attend UMass.
STEFANIE HODELL
Comsewogue (6-0, Senior)
Hodell, an All-Long Island second-teamer a year ago, led Comsewogue to a 17-2 season. She averaged 15 points and eight rebounds and will head to Northeastern.
CHRISTINE KINNEARY
Holy Trinity (5-8, Junior)
On a team loaded with talent -- see Tia Grant and Nicole Emery -- Kinneary proved to be the glue. The point guard averaged 16 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals as Holy Trinity won the state CHSAA and Federation Class B titles.
ANNA McLEAN
Freeport (6-2, Junior)
Amazing fact: McLean recorded 10 or more blocks in a game five times. She also averaged 18 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks as Freeport (9-3) upset top-seeded Farmingdale and advanced to the Nassau Class AA final.
