All-Long Island Girls Soccer

A look at the girls soccer players who stood out on Long Island high school varsity squads in the fall of 2002.

CHRISTINE ABRAMS
South Side, Forward, Senior

Abrams provided leadership for a team in transition and kept the South Side dynasty going strong. The Cyclones (16-1-1) won their fourth straight Long Island Class A crown this season with Abrams up front. A four-year starter, Abrams had 12 goals and three assists. The two-time All-Nassau selection owns two state Class A titles. Abrams has 24 goals and 20 assists in her career.

COURTNEY ARIKIAN
West Islip, Midfielder, Senior

Arikian finished her five-year career at West Islip with a remarkable tally: 80 goals and 62 assists. The returning All-Long Island pick took the Lions (11-4-1) to the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals this season. It didn’t end the way she would have liked. But no one can fault Arikian, who punched in 21 goals and 16 assists as a senior.

BRANDI DANIELS
Harborfields, Goalkeeper, Junior

Daniels was the glue for a team that reached the Suffolk Class B semifinals, part of a 13-4-1 season. Not only is Daniels nimble in net, but at 5-10, she cuts an imposing figure, too. The three-year starter posted 28 shutouts in her career, including 13 this season. The two-time All-Suffolk selection allowed only 10 goals all season and registered 199 saves.

BRISTYN DAVIS
St. Anthony’s, Forward, Senior

Davis led St. Anthony’s to a 16-1-2 mark and its second straight CHSAA state title. She scored in her final game, a 4-2 win over Notre Dame (S.I.). It capped a season in which she tallied 20 goals and 15 assists. Davis, who committed to UCLA, is a three-year starter and two-time All-CHSAA player. Davis owns 50 career goals and a piece of the Friars’ championship legacy.

TICIANA DiCARLO
Clarke, Goalkeeper, Senior

DiCarlo brought Clarke (13-4-2) to the Nassau Class B semifinals, where she gave up a late goal, the difference in a 1-0 loss to No. 1 Cold Spring Harbor. She made eight stops in the game and kept the Rams in games throughout the year, registering nine shutouts. The five-year varsity player was named the goalkeeper of the year in Nassau.

CHRISTINA DiMARTINO
Massapequa, Forward, Sophomore

DiMartino is undoubtedly Nassau’s most feared player with a ball. She led Massapequa to a 13-2-0 mark and a berth in the county Class A semifinals. Her team ended South Side’s 56-game unbeaten streak during the season. DiMartino registered 10 goals (four were game-winning tallies) and four assists. The two-time All-Nassau pick has 23 career goals, with more sure to come.
