2007-08 All-Long Island Boys Bowling
A look at Long Island's boys bowlers from the 2007-08 season.
BOWLER OF THE YEAR:
Jon Trzcinski
Bay Shore, Sr.
Trzcinski led Suffolk with a 232.64 average to win the county title for the second straight season. He is a two-time Bowler of the Year and a three-time state champion with the Suffolk all-star team.
Justin Juarez
East Meadow, Jr.
He was the second-highest bowler in Nassau with a 212.2 average. He placed fourth in the individual tournament and ninth in the state tournament (219.3 average) as the Nassau all-stars placed second.
Anthony LaFemina
East Islip, Sr.
He averaged 230 (second best in the county) for the season and was a big reason why the Redmen captured the state championship. He averaged 226.1 (fifth best) in the state tournament.
Frank Montgoris
Bethpage, Jr.
He had the third-highest average in Nassau at 211.2. Montgoris won the individual tournament and placed 13th in the state tournament (215.5 average), where he shot a 279 in Game 4 for the third-highest game.
Joe Novara
Sachem North, Jr.
Novara, who rolled two 300 games during the season, averaged 229.39 (third-best in the county) for the season. He was part of the Suffolk all-star team, where he averaged 214.8 (14th best) at state.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Rick Papandrea, East Islip
He led East Islip to the League 1 title, the Division 1 (large school) crown, the Suffolk championship and the state championship. Papandrea notched his first state title in six years at East Islip.
