A look at Long Island's girls bowlers from the 2007-08 season.
BOWLER OF THE YEAR:
Gina Capone
East Islip, Sr.
Capone set a county record with a 215.6 average. She averaged 199.8 (tied for fifth best) in the county tournament and 187.17 (16th best) in the state final.
Ali Martin
East Islip, Jr.
Martin averaged 208.5 (second best in the county) during the season, 194.6 (ninth best) in the county tournament and 199 (11th best) in the state final.
Emily Fischer
East Islip, Sr.
Fischer had a stellar season, averaging 200.4 (third best in the county) during the season, 208.3 (second best) in the county tournament and 203.3 (seventh best) in the state final.
Tara Ernst
East Islip, Fr.
Ernst freshman averaged 196.9 (fourth best in the county) during the season, 199.8 (tied for fifth best) in the county tournament and 204.6 (fifth best) in the state final.
Erika Drake
Sewanhaka, Sr.
The bowler from Floral Park finished with the second highest average in Nassau at 195.3. She finished third in the individual tournament and represented the Nassau girls all-stars in the state tournament.
COACH OF THE YEAR:
Harold Cooley
East Islip
With Cooley in charge, East Islip has not lost a match in the regular season since the 2000-2001 season. Cooley has won 15 league titles, seven county title and two state titles since starting the program 23 years ago.
