Friday's highlights

Boys soccer:


Joseph Lopez had four goals and an assist in the first 30 minutes as Brentwood (10-0 League I) defeated Lindenhurst, 8-1. Hancell Guevara added a goal and two assists.

Jonathan DaSilva scored two goals, including the deciding one, to lead Sewanhaka (7-1-1 Conference ABC-IV) to a 3-2 win over Plainedge. DaSilva scored the third goal in the 68th minute. With the win, Sewanhaka clinches a playoff berth. Plainedge is 5-3.

John Popovic snapped a 1-1 tie with two goals for Baldwin (2-4-4 Conference AA-II). His second goal, three minutes into the second half, gave Baldwin a 3-1 lead and capped the scoring.

Ahkeel Rodney had two goals and two assists as Elmont (5-4 Conference AA-III) bested Plainview JFK, 4-1. Rodney scored the second and deciding goal.

Hector Lasso scored on a pass from Yoav Zvi 20 minutes into the first half as Great Neck South (8-1 Conference AA-III) posted a 1-0 win over Hempstead.

Girls soccer:

Junior Rachel Blum recorded a personal-best five points with two goals and three assists to lead Lindenhurst (4-5 League I), which received goals from five different players, to a 6-0 win over Brentwood.

Erin Froelich scored goals in the 33rd and the 36th minutes for Smithtown West (4-3-1 League IV) in a 2-1 win over North Babylon.

Brianne Borthwick scored with five minutes remaining to give West Babylon (4-7, 4-4-1 League IV) a 1-0 victory over Riverhead.

Field hockey: Olivia Amato and Alie Perez had three goals apiece for Manhasset (9-1-1 Conference I) in a 9-0 win over Floral Park.

Girls swimming: Eighth-graders Melanie Yanar placed first in the butterfly (111.41) and and Kanika Bahl won breaststroke (116.05) as Syosset (4-0-1 Conference II) posted a 91-83 win over South Side.

Girls tennis: Audrey Zaweski and Elizabeth Barlow defeated Melanie Drooski and Jenna Bablock, 6-2, 6-1, in second doubles to lead Mercy (10-0). With the victory, Mercy clinches first place in League VIII with a 7-0 win over Southold / Greenport.

Girls gymnastics: Alyssa Burns placed first on floor (9.15), first on balance beam (8.75) and first on the uneven bars with (9.05) for Commack, which edged Babylon, 164.8-160.025.

Boys golf: Sean Fullam shot a par-36 on the front nine at the West Sayville Golf Course for Sayville (10-2, 8-2 League V). Bayport-Blue Point's Mike Giannico shot a 2-over par 38 in a 9-0 loss.
