Track and field roundup: East Islip wins League III title
East Islip won its first League III championship since 1978 with a 78-72 girls track and field meet win over West Islip on Tuesday.
Renee Domozych won the 800 meters, Cari Roccaro won the 200 in 27.4, Molly McLean won the 100 hurdles (16.0) and 400 hurdles (1:07.6) and Kristin Vogel won the long jump (16-1 1/2) and triple jump (32-8 1/2). East Islip completed the league season 6-0.
Bay Shore 96.5, Northport 49.5: Brittany Silipo won the 100-meter hurdles (16.3) and the 100 in (12.7) for Bay Shore to help clinch League III. It is Bay Shore's 27th title in 30 years. Tenica Roberts won the 400 (58.8) and the triple jump (35-1 1/2). Sarah McMcCurdy was first in the 800 (2:23.6) and the 1,500 (4:54.5).
