2008 All-Long Island Boys Lacrosse
A look at Long Island's best boys lacrosse players from the 2008 season.
NEWSDAY PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Tom Palasek
Rocky Point | Attack | Senior
The All-American is a classic feeder with the ability to put the ball on a teammate's stick from anywhere at anytime. The Johns Hopkins-bound Palasek had 91 assists and 51 goals to lead Long Island in scoring with 142 points. Palasek's superb season helped Rocky Point win its first ever Class B state title.
NASSAU PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Jeff Cohen
Syosset | Attack | Senior
Cohen's resume, as the teenagers might say, is sick. The All-American finished his career the all-time leading scorer in Long Island history with 260 goals, and sixth all-time in New York. Also named scholar-athlete of the year, Cohen helped lead Syosset to its second straight county championship, and its first appearance in the state championship game this year.
Justin Annunziato
Rocky Point | Defense | Senior
Annunziato is a tenacious defender with incredible heart. The Syracuse-bound All-American possesses the speed and physicality to frustrate opponent's best offensive players. He is also a superb ground-ball guy who was a huge part of Rocky Point winning its first Class B state title.
Mike Chanechuk
St. Anthony's | Midfield | Senior
The Princeton-bound senior is a prolific and smart offensive midfielder. The Under Armour All-American Game selection scored 39 goals and had 18 assists this season while helping lead the Friars back to the CHSAA title game. Chanechuk is a tremendous shooter and a tough defender with great awareness and playmaking skills.
John Conneely
Half Hollow Hills West | Attack | Senior
The Penn-bound All-American is Half Hollow Hills West's all-time leading scorer with 243 career points, which includes 65 goals this season. Conneely is a versatile attack with great field vision. He can beat you with or without the ball in his stick.
Dan DiMaria
