Oscar de la Renta to appear at Rye Brook fashion show
Iconic designer Oscar de la Renta's fashions have graced runways around the world, but this Thursday, he and his works will strut their stuff at a Rye Brook fundraiser for White Plains Hospital.
The April 25 event comprises the runway show, cocktails, live auction and dessert buffet at the 54-acre corporate campus of 800 Westchester Ave., in Rye Brook, whose 532,680 square feet of postmodern office space was once General Foods' corporate headquarters.
The event will also feature an appearance by de la Renta, whose impressive sartorial résumé includes including dressing first ladies ranging from Jacqueline Kennedy to Laura Bush. A native of the Dominican Republic who holds dual citizenship in the United States, de la Renta has influenced the international fashion scene since the late '60s and earned a lifetime achievement award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Proceeds from the event will benefit White Plains Hospital, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary. Opening in 1893 with four beds, the facility at 41 E. Post Road now has 292 beds, the largest freestanding cancer center in Westchester County, and a maternity ward that delivers more babies than any other hospital in the county.
Cocktails begin Thursday at 6:30 p.m., followed by the de la Renta fashion show at 8 p.m., and dessert at 9 p.m. Tickets are $200 and can be purchased online. The dress code is cocktail attire. For more information, contact Casey Kaufman at 914-681-2462 or email@example.com.
