Talked to Andy Sutton before the game about the first time facing his former team since being traded to Ottawa March 2.

Sutton said he's most excited about getting another chance to compete for a Stanley Cup at age 35.

The veteran defenseman took some time to reflect on his tenure as an Islander and said he would not rule out a return to Long Island.

"Absolutely not. I love the direction the team is going, I love the guys and it’s a great organization, so I definitely wouldn’t rule that out."

When asked how far he thought his former team was from becoming a playoff contender he said "not that far, very close."

"The Islanders are totally going in the right direction. They’re people that care about each other and they have a lot of young talented guys. I've never played on a team where there are so many guys that really care about each other. I think it’s a tribute to the type of people they bring to this organization."

***Bruno Gervais (groin) is out tonight; Scott Gordon said he believes he'll play again before season's end.

***I think I forgot to blog this yesterday, but Rob Schremp skated on his own yesterday after recently undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
