Rick DiPietro will start in goal against the Devils in today's matinee. Scott Gordon said he wanted to get DP into games without much time in between to see if he could develop a rhythm.

Gordon said he talked to both DiPietro and Dwayne Roloson about how this whole goalie breakdown might play out in the immediate future to give them a heads-up.

When asked about the possibility of DiPietro developing a rhythm and presenting a difficult choice of which goaltender to ride, Gordon said it's less about riding a guy on a roll and more about who is playing well.

Essentially, Gordon didn't want to get ahead of himself in talking about any goalie rotation until the situation actually comes to fruition.

DiPietro has the opportunity to give the Islanders their first win over the Devils this season. Isles have dropped two to their division foes already this year.
