Casey Cizikas missed Saturday night's game with a jaw injury, but it wasn't known whether he will miss more time.

Cizikas left Thursday's loss in Phoenix in the first period after taking a forearm to the face while trying to deliver a hit on Coyotes defenseman Connor Murphy. Cizikas still has pain and swelling in the jaw, so it isn't known yet if there's a fracture and whether he requires surgery.

Regin returns

Peter Regin went back into the lineup after sitting out three of the previous four games as a healthy scratch.

Colin McDonald also was a healthy scratch, with Eric Boulton getting another call to play against the Canadiens' handful of enforcers.

Boulton, who came in with two goals in eight games, fought George Parros just 2:01 into the game. Boulton caught Parros with a right hand and Parros staggered as he tried to get to his feet. The big Canadiens forward initially insisted on going to the penalty box, but the officials forced Parros to go to the dressing room to be checked for a concussion. He did not return.

De Haan's ups and downs

Calvin de Haan played well enough to earn some first-pair defensive time in his first seven games, but there have been a few bumps. He had an ill-timed one Thursday in Phoenix, losing the puck and his stick to lead to a Coyotes goal late in the second to make it 5-3.

"There's bad bounces. Even Norris Trophy winners have them," de Haan said. "I didn't know if I'd be getting the kind of minutes I have so far, and the coaches have put a lot of trust in me. I love to test myself, and this has been a big test."

Entering Saturday night's game, de Haan was averaging 20:13 per game, third most among Islanders defensemen.
