Freddy Meyer is back in on D after sitting out the past 10 games as the healthy scratch. Scott Gordon sits veteran Brendan Witt in his place.

"it's never easy to sit a veteran, but in my mind it was the right time to do it," Gordon said.

Witt certainly did not have one of his better games last night. Combined with a minus-18 overall this season, Witt also committed an ugly giveaway that led to Brenden Morrow's tying goal in the second period.

Meyer said he was looking forward to the opportunity.

"I'm excited to get back in there and I just want to show that I can play hard and smart," Meyer said. "It's definitely an opportunity to get back in there. You don't know how long you're going to be back in the lineup so you just want to impress them enough to keep you in."

Sean Bergenheim will remain on IR. Scott said he's about as close to 100% as can be, but that they simply do not have the roster flexibility to activate him.

Dwayne Roloson in net tonight.

As far as facing Phoenix tonight, this is what Gordon had to say:

They're very good defensively, have had great goaltending and they have a lot of speed. In order to be successful we can't allow them to generate it coming out of their own zone."
