Scott Gordon said he plans to use Rick DiPietro in a game this trip, which leaves either tonight or tomorrow.

Yesterday I predicted DiPietro's start will come tonight against Dallas. The main reason why? I think DiPietro should be given the best chance to succeed in his first start in over a year and I believe that would happen after a day of rest and a good night's sleep (Islanders had the day off yesterday and will play in the second of a back-to-back in Phoenix tomorrow). I could be wrong, however....we should find out in a matter of hours after the Islanders morning skate at American Airlines Center.

This will be the first and only time this season the Islanders face the Dallas Stars, who have dropped three straight and lost scoring leader Mike Ribeiro Wednesday after an inadvertent  high stick from Ranger Chris Higgins cut him in the throat.

Not the nicest image to digest over breakfast, I know.

We should also see this morning if Sean Bergenheim makes his long-awaited return to the lineup after suffering a rib injury December 8. Bergenheim told me earlier this week there would have to be a setback for him not to play during this trip. His return however, would force a roster move, however, and Scott Gordon said Wednesday that the easiest one for them to make --Send Andrew MacDonald back to Bridgeport--was not one he wanted to exercise.
