Twelve players were sent to their Bridgeport farm team and five others were released as the Islanders trimmed their training-camp roster to 27, the team announced Sunday. There were no surprises among the roster moves.

Assigned to the Islanders' American Hockey League affiliate were forwards Justin DiBenedetto, Michael Haley, Rob Hisey, Jesse Joensuu, Tomas Marcinko, Rhett Rakhshani, David Ullstrom and Jeremy Yablonski, defensemen Travis Hamonic, Mark Katic and Dylan Reese and goaltender Mikko Koskinen.

Anders Eriksson, Krys Kolanos, Manny Legace, Dean McAmmond and Jed Ortmeyer - all of whom signed temporary tryout contracts to help the team through a flurry of five exhibition games played on three nights - were cut. The Islanders must whittle the roster to 23 before they open their 2010-11 season Saturday night against the Dallas Stars at Nassau Coliseum.
