Cryptic, I know, but expect a deal between the Islanders and  defenseman Aaron Ness to be announced soon.

Reports surfaced Monday that Ness would be leaving the University of Minnesota, leading many to believe he'd be signing a deal with the Islanders.

It is believed that the deal has been agreed to in principle, but not yet made official.

Ness, a 5-10, 170-pound defenseman from Roseau, Minnesota, was taken by the Islanders in the second round of the 2008 draft. He has two goals and 12 assists in 35 games for the Gophers this season.

Ness is not the only Islander to leave Minny. Kyle Okposo also left the program midway through his sophomore season to sign with the Islanders in 2007.
