Al Montoya undergoes surgery on left knee
Islanders goaltender Al Montoya underwent successful surgery last week to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, the team confirmed.
Montoya suffered the injury while playing for Team USA's in this year's World Championships in Slovakia; the 26-year-old finished with a .871 save percentage and 2.60 GAA in 4 games played for USA.
Although the Islanders said he should be 100% by training camp in September, this means that the team's top three goaltenders heading into camp this September--Montoya, Kevin Poulin and Rick DiPietro--will all be bouncing back from some sort of knee injury this past season.
