Gordon's thoughts on preseason opener
The Isles dropped their preseason opener 2-1 to Vancouver in the Hockeyville game in Terrace, BC Monday but head coach Scott Gordon said he was pleased with the effort.
I thought the effort was outstanding. In the second and third period I thought we really controlled the play. We had an extensive amount of offensive zone time, not a significant amount of defensive zone time. The shift they scored on was really the only time we got in trouble. We had a miscue and it ended in the back of the net. The pace of the game was outstanding
Jon Sim's performance?
He played last night like he did before he was sent down (to Bridgeport last year), which is important for him because potentially he could be a guy who could put the puck in the net for us.
He's focused, he wants to make contributions, have an impact, and that's great. He's grabbing the bull by the horns and saying 'I want to be a valuable player on this team.'
On Jeremy Reich's two fights and physical style of play?
I've seen it a lot the few years he played for me. It didn't surprise me. He hasn't changed anything. I don't think I've ever coached a guy that has an understanding of when to do it, how to do it, the time and place and situation [like him]. He's always been able to identify that, and not only identify it but have it make an impact.
