In-person hearing for Gillies scheduled for Friday

Trevor Gillies will fly to Toronto tomorrow for an in-person hearing at noon regarding his hit on Cal Clutterbuck Wednesday that earned him a game misconduct, Newsday has learned.

Islanders GM Garth Snow and Gillies' agent Peter Cooney will not be accompanying him for his meeting with league disciplinarian Colin Campbell, but both will be conferenced in on the proceedings.

Given Gillies' status as a repeat offender--Wednesday's hit-from-behind major came only four shifts after returning from a 9-game ban--he is likely facing another significant suspension.

The fact that he will be meeting with the league again for an in-person hearing is also indicative of the gravity of the situation.
