Isles agree to terms with Matt Donovan on entry-level deal

The Islanders have agreed to terms with Matt Donovan on an entry level deal, the team announced today.

Donovan's deal will commence at the beginning of the 2011-12 season, but the 20-year-old defenseman will head to the team's minor league affiliate Bridgeport Sound Tigers for the remainder of the season. He'll play for the Sound Tigers on an ATO, Amateur Tryout.

Donovan, a fourth round pick in the 2008 draft, led University of Denver's defenseman in scoring this year during his sophomore season. The Edmond, OK native finished his two-year collegiate career with 53 points (16 goals, 37 assists) in 78 games.
