Jed Ortmeyer coming to Islanders on training camp tryout

Add one more player to the mix of training camp invitees: Jed Ortmeyer.

Ortmeyer, who had 8 goals and 11 assists in 76 games for San Jose last year,  is expected to arrive tomorrow.

The former Ranger joins Manny Legace,  Dean MacAmmond, Krys Kolanos, Anders Eriksson, and Joel Martin as recent camp invites (Islanders have split-squad games Wednesdayand October 2, which requires them to dress eight veterans for each game).

As recently as August, the Islanders expressed interest in Ortmeyer, who is known as a solid fourth-line player. He skates well, kills penalties, has a tremendous work ethic and the reputation as an excellent team guy. Could be a very good pick-up for the Islanders.
